What is it?

A template that supports a full GUI reskin by changing only 4 image files found in the GUI folder of your Ren'py game.  Get a customized look with little to no programming involved!

Who are you?

A game developer with a story to tell who's eager to get started on their Visual Novel journey!

Someone who hasn't decided exactly what vibe to go with for their gaming interface and wants a quick tool to easily try a variety of textures and color schemes!

A maverick interested in dynamic gui changes throughout their story who would like a foundation to start  visualizing their storytelling potential!

Instructions:

1.  Download and unzip the template file.

2.  When starting a new project from the Ren'Py launcher, choose "24K GUI"

3.  Customize (or don't) to your heart's content.

To customize menu backgrounds, make changes to this file:

                 game/gui/menu_mask.png

To customize menu borders, scrollbars, idle slider thumbs and default font:

                game/gui/gold.png

To customize the hovered version of bars/thumbs:

              game/gui/hover_color.png

To customize the idle version of bars/thumbs/hovered slider thumbs:    

              game/gui/hover_color.png

Tips:

Keep the image sizes the same as the originals.  For example, replace the 1920x1280 "gold.png" with an image of the same size.

Keep the file names the same and you won't have to touch the code!  For example, if you are replacing the "gold.png", the new file should also be called "gold.png".

The template works the other way too!  For example, you could change the line art for the "gui/menu_border_png" and keep the gold texture.

Compatibility:

This template uses text shaders which require Ren'Py 8.3 or later. 

Usage:

You may use this template for the development of any project commercial or non-commercial and edit/modify the code and images to suit your needs.

You may NOT sell this template as-is or with modifications

You may NOT release projects using this template without attribution
